III Workshop of Communication in Critical Embedded Systems (WoCCES 2015)

About

Current communication systems cover a wide range of computing platforms, from the traditional fixed telephony to the mobile computing, multimedia systems, peer-to-peer Internet services and the critical embedded systems.

The research topics in embedded systems have increased and gained critical proportions that are worth mentioning today. Consequently, communication between and among these systems has also shown an increasing, which leads to the emergence of new problems and difficulties that deserve to be studied and treated.

The interoperation of all these systems is a crucial characteristic. Integrating, connecting and coordinating communication is fundamental for software and middleware systems.

Therefore, this workshop will focus on important innovations and recent advances in the specification, design, construction and use of communication in critical embedded systems, with the goal of bringing together researchers and practitioners from industry and academia and provide them an opportunity to learn about the latest developments, deployments, technology trends and research results, as well as initiatives related to embedded systems and their applications in a variety of industrial environments.

Topics of Interest

For the third edition of WoCCES, authors are invited to submit original work. Authors who have jobs with preliminary results or work in progress are also encouraged to submit articles. A non-exhaustive list of topics of interest is presented as follow:

  • Distributed Algorithms;
  • Hardware and Software Architectures;
  • Integration of High Availability Clusters and Grids with Embedded Systems;
  • Media Access Control (MAC), cognitive radios and directional antennas;
  • Communication Group;
  • Mobile and Embedded Computing;
  • Middleware and Web Services;
  • Interaction between sensors and Mobile Robots;

Workshop Format

WoCCES include the submission of full papers for publication, related discussions and poster session.

Instructions for Authors

Articles must be written in English or Portuguese in the following categories:

  1. Regular articles with original research contributions, up to 10 pages;
  2. Reports with practical experiences, tools descriptions or case studies of original research, up to 10 pages;
  3. Extended abstracts, with preliminary research results, new guidelines, critical insights or learned lessons, up to 5 pages.

All accepted and revised papers, according to the recommendations of the Program Committee of WoCCES, will be published in the Proceedings of the SBRC, in the workshops volume.

The format of the work must be the one indicated for articles by the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC), whose models are available in: SBC Template. Avoid figures in bitmap or too small. The submission will be electronic via JEMS (https://submissoes.sbc.org.br/). The file should be in PDF (Portable Document Format).

Important: At least one of the authors of selected papers must register for the SBRC and WoCCES and attend to the event to make the presentation.
